COPYRIGHT, EFDD/M5S: INTERNET FREEDOM AT STAKE

press release

"The protection of citizens' rights to freely share information on the Internet and not to undergo censorship is of utmost importance. For these reasons, we have re-tabled some amendments to delete both Article 11, which provides for the so called #linktax, and Article 13, which purpose is to introduce an absolute liability for platforms, and an automatic filter mechanism for content uploaded by users. Both articles need to be deleted and rejected by the European Parliament. Jeopardising freedom of expression on the Internet and trying to gag the web by introducing rules that risk to be obsolete before even being implemented, is simply not acceptable. Europe is hypocrite when it comes to these aspects, and the EU prefers to implement a bad policy rather than dismantle its tax havens", stated Isabella Adinolfi, 5 Star MEP.
